TV/Movies - Spring Preview 2016

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Even if it doesn't feel like Spring yet, it is definitely on the way and with that comes NEW SHOWS!! New shows are great, I love to see what new ideas Hollywood comes out with. Below are the shows that caught my attention when reading the descriptions.

American Grit- This is a military-inspired competition series that follows 16 men and women as they face a variety of survival-themed challenges in the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest. You couldn't pay me enough to participate in any kind of physical competition but watching other people do it sure is fun! John Cena appears as part of an elite group of mentors that also includes Navy Seals and Army Rangers. Premiere Thursday April 14, 2016 9/8c on FOX.

The Girlfriend Experience- This show is based on the 2009 film and stars Riley Keough as she plays a law student and legal intern who becomes interested and intoxicated by the life of GFEs, and the control and intimacy they provide. This show caught my eye because it reminds me of the British show Secret Diary of a Call Girl and I look forward to seeing the American take on it. Doesn't every woman secretly wish she could be paid to be someone's girlfriend? No just me? Premieres Sunday April 10, 2016 at 8pm on Starz.

Houdini & Doyle- This show is about Harry Houdini and Sherlock Holmes as they team up with Scotland Yard to crack cases. Even though they may not have done this in real life the premise is interesting and of course there is a supernatural element to it. Take out your magnifying glass and get to sleuthing! Premieres Monday May 2, 2016 9/8c on FOX.

The Night Manager- Stars Tom Hilddleston as an intelligence operative who must resort to shady ways as he infiltrates the inner circle of a lethal arms dealer (Hugh Laurie). Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor so in seeing that he was in a new show, it made this a must see. I mean he plays an arms dealer, everyone loves a bad boy! Okay so he isn't a boy but you get the idea. Premieres Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 10/9c on AMC.

The Ranch- The 70s are back! Okay no they aren't, but Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson of That 70s Show fame sure are! These two hunks play brothers trying to run the family ranching business on this Netflix original series. Netflix is trying a new approach so don't expect to be able to binge watch the whole series at once. Premieres Friday April 1, 2016 at midnight on Netflix.

What shows are you watching this Spring? Any new ones I should check out?
