2018 In Review

Friday, January 4, 2019

2018 was a big year for me, it had many ups and downs and I'm glad it's over. The highs were high and the lows were low. Some great things that happened as you saw in Nermisa's post I got married! I eloped in Croatia and fulfilled everyone's dreams. Seriously, the amount of people that told me they wished they had done that was insane. I thought I would regret it, since I'm East Indian and we are all about the big weddings (if you need a frame of reference Google Prianka Chopra), but I have to say it's been 5 months and I don't regret a thing. (Well maybe one thing, having more time to get ready, but it all worked out) My dress was beautiful and made by Nermisa. No matter how many people told me I was crazy, I believed in her and I was right she did an amazing job. She made sure I was comfortable and looked like a bride.
Dubrovnik, Croatia (yup that beautiful view is where I got married)

The second big thing in 2018 was our #tripofalifetime to Europe. We did a 3 week trip where we went to Italy, Bosnia and Croatia. It was an amazing trip, and now my husband understands why I love travelling so much.

2018 also had me moving positions at work, I call it moving positions vs. a promotion because a promotion is moving up within the same role. I moved into a completely new role. I was scared to start my new role it was very overwhelming, but I love a challenge.

2018 taught me that I have anxiety and putting a name to what I feel is actually helpful in dealing with it. I now know how to better deal with the feeling and am better able to communicate my feelings to my husband.

2018 taught me to apologize when I'm wrong. I know what you are thinking that's common sense Zahra, but it's really hard for me to admit when I'm wrong. So this is a huge step for me.

2018 taught me that you may think you know someone until they do something that completely changes your view of them. You can't let your shaken view of one person, affect other relationships. I choose to still believe in my view of those closest to me until I am proven otherwise.

Lastly, and funnily enough it taught me the same thing as Nermisa. Things work out exactly as they should. I don't always like the outcome and some things I find truly unfair, but its happening for a reason.

So here's to 2018, the growth I have achieved and the memories created!

How was your 2018?
