Fun Things to Do This Summer to Make It the Best One Yet

Wednesday, May 3, 2023

Believe it or not, summer 2023 is just around the corner, (even tho in Edmonton we are barely breaking double digits warm temperatures) and we’re totally here for lazy days and warm, summer nights. Summer is the best time of the year, but can also be expensive so we came up with a list of free or nearly free activities that will ensure your summer is filled with great adventures and lots of fun.

Plant a garden.
If you have the space and a backyard you are lucky, plant your favourite veggies and enjoy fruits (or veggies) of your labour all Summer long. If you have a balcony or a sunny spot in your home you can plant a herb garden, tomatoes and peppers grow well in pots (or cans).

Go hiking.
Google close places you can go hiking - hike within your city. Hiking and is free, and walking in nature, freeing.

Have a outdoor movie night.
A projector screen, a white sheet and lots of comfy chairs with some popcorn and you have a perfect evening. If you don't have a projector - bring your laptop, set up a blow up matters, lots of blankets, snacks and cozy up.

Bike around.
Explore your city on a bike.

Camp in your backyard.
I am not a camper but camping is something most people enjoy. So compromise and camp in your backyard that way you get to sleep outside, have smores and still there is no judgment if you sneak back into the house to sleep the rest of the night.

Have a picnic.
There is something about eating outside where food just tastes better. So pack a picnic basket (or a cooler) and head to a park, beach, or even your own backyard.

Make Homemade Popsicles.
Its Summer, you need ice-cream. If you are on Tiktok I m sure you seen on of recipes for popsicles or ice-cream, so try one or 5 and enjoy.

Spend the Day on the Water.
I equate Summer with water, so head out on a boat, have lunch on the dock,  take a dip in the lake, float down a river, the water is the ideal place to soak in Summer days.
