Homemade blueberry jam

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

I am a very much a city girl; I love the fact that I have access to everything at my fingertips, but I do get overwhelmed with all pre-packaged pre-made things. Once in a while going back to basics is what I need; so today I decided to make blueberry jam. Homemade jam tastes fresher than the store bought stuff and it also makes a very thoughtful gift.
It is so easy to make, it’s strange how easily I forget that jam didn't always come from the store.
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups of sugar
3 cups of fresh blueberries
3 cups of water

Directions:
In a medium size saucepan bring blueberries, half of the sugar and water to boil.
Once boiling add remaining sugar, turn to low heat and let simmer for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.
After 45 minutes let it cool and enjoy.
If you are making more, adding lemon drops and preservatives will make it last longer. This makes one medium mason jar worth of jam.
