I spend a lot of time driving, but I know very little about vehicle maintenance and how-to's. I am fortunate that my dad is a handy guy who helps me with anything car related and the guys from the dealership call to remind me to change my oil.
Recently, my clueless self was introduced to FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters and FRAM Engine Air Filters sold at Canadian Tire. Did you know that air filters can filter and clean the air coming into your car which help decrease exposure to contaminants such as road dust and pollen?

I decide to install the FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters by myself (under the watchful eye of my father, obviously). The installation was actually pretty easy, and took less than fifteen minutes to install.
Step one: Locate where the filter is.
The Cabin Air Filter in a Mitsubishi Outlander is on the passenger side.
Step two: Get access to the filter.
In a Mitsubishi Outlander open the glove box, release the side handles that hold the drawer in place. This will give you access to the filter.
Step three: Remove old filter.
Take off the white plastic cap on the filer box and pull out the old filter.
Step four: Insert new FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters.
Make sure the arrows are facing you, and point down when inserting the filter.
Step five: Put everything back in its place.
Side by side companions. New vs Old.

All the FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters boxes come with instructions in English, French and Spanish that are very simple to follow.  Since installation is very simple you can do it yourself, and save a few bucks.
FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters and FRAM Engine Air Filters were cheaper to buy than factory ones that the dealership sells, and made as well or better. My car smells fresher and since the installation I have noticed there is less dust accumulating on the dash, which is amazing. Turns out, my old filter was totally dirty, and would highly recommend changing these filters at recommended intervals.  A dirty air filter restricts airflow, which can contribute to decreased acceleration, horsepower, and reduced overall performance, which is why its important to change it at intervals noted in your vehicles owner’s manual.
The cabin air filter can remove up to 98% of dirt, which cleans the air that you and your passengers breath inside of your car. FRAM Fresh Breeze® filter uses the natural deodorizing qualities of Arm & Hammer baking soda to help eliminate odors and make your car smell great. In addition to improving the air quality of your vehicle, replacing your cabin air filter will put less strain on your heating and air conditioning system.

Have you used FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filters and FRAM Engine Air Filters? What did you think? I would love to hear from you.

  1. I definitely need to learn more about my vehicle as well! I participated in this campaign earlier in the fall, and I couldn't believe how easy it was to change the cabin filter. I am now converted to a diy-er!
