OOTD - Lace Overlay Romper

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

A lace LBD is always a good idea if you ask me.  A maxi lace dress with sleeves make it even more fun. This dress is actually a romper, and since I am tall most of the time rompers do not fit right. Since I normally don’t  wear rompers (as they are all short on me), this dress made me want to give it a shot. I like the plunging neck line and the lace details; and its surprising comfortable.

OOTD - Maxi Dress

Monday, May 29, 2017

When I picked up this gorgeous dress last month, I couldn't wait for some warmer weather so I pull it out and wear it. Que May long weekend. The dress is comfortable, light and its perfect length. I am 5'10'' so most maxi dresses are too short on me.
I love the soft colors and the fact it flows and twirls in all the right ways. Here I pared it with white converse and a white bag.

48 Hour Travel Guide to Halifax

Friday, May 26, 2017

Let me start this with the fact that forty eight hours is NOT enough to explore the beauty that is Halifax, Nova Scotia. However, if you do have a chance to visit Halifax, here is where you should go and places to go to and eat at.
Places to eat:
I don't remember last time I ate out this much, but with so many options, I had to... for blog research purposes. That counts right?
If you are looking for mouthwatering delicious food, offered at an elegant setting I highly recommend Bicycle Thief and Press Gallery.
If you are looking for good coffee and delicious breakfast or lunch, I would check out : The Wired Monkey, Choco Café, TAO Bakery (AKA The Old Apothecary) and Cabin Coffee.
The list of pubs that you should visit is vast but I would definitely add following places to check out and grab a drink and some grub: Lower Deck, Dirty Nelly's, Stubborn Goat, and The Old Triangle.

Things to do:
Tour of Alexander Keith's Brewery
Take the ferry to Dartmouth
Take a tour of Canadian Museum at Pier 21
Take a tour of Maritime Museum of the Atlantic
Take a walk down the harbour lane

I have traveled to many cities across Canada but Halifax will always hold a special place in my heart. The architecture, the people, proximity to the ocean, ferries and never ending list of places to grab a drink and food make a perfect combination and reason why you should add Halifax to your travel itinerary.

5 Things School Never Taught Me

Ahhhh school. The land of books and assignments and KIDS and attitudes and cafeteria food. Not all bad but you couldn't pay me to go back. School life and adult life are very different worlds. Our parents and other family members, teachers and coaches, all try to prepare us for "real" life. Not all of us were prepared to listen and learn - after all, we know EVERYTHING between the ages of 14-18. But there are a few things that school didn't teach me, but probably should have.

Naturally my list is full of financial things - turns out the world revolves around money. Who knew. Your local credit union or bank can give you the guidance you need in person if the web doesn't do it for you.

Credit:
How it works. How to handle it. How to get it to work for you. And how NOT to screw it up.

Debt:
How it works. How to handle it, And how NOT to screw it up.

Savings:
How much should you put away? Why should you put money away? What are your savings options?

Set a budget:
For groceries and savings and clothes. It's easy to spend money. We can blow money in 5 minutes. But once you build that habit to spend money with goals in mind, you realize you can have all of the things you need and most of what you want.  Check out our tips here!

Don't play where you work:
It's normal to date the people in your school. But it can get a little tricky when you play where you work. Chances are the company you work for is smaller than your school was, and adults gossip just as much as kids. Playing where you work can affect your career in the long.

What did you wish you had learned in school?

OOTD - Mom Jeans

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Every year there is a new trend I am hesitant to try out. This year it has been “mom jean” trend.  Since I was looking for a new paid of jeans I caved and picked up this Levis pair.  They are high waisted and super comfortable. I opted out for a full length so I can roll them up. I paired the jeans with a see through top and a an open toe bootie.

If you are in Edmonton, this outfit is a perfect alternative to plaid and cowboy boots if you are heading to Rainmaker Rodeo & Exhibition.

OOTD - Off the Shoulder Top

If I’m being honest, I’ve been wearing a lot of sweaters even though it’s (finally) hot outside mostly because Alberta weather is so unpredictable. Sometimes it's all about layers. I picked this off the shoulder top, knowing that there is a high chance I won't be wearing it since it is short. I do love a good the off the shoulder top, and this one is in my favorite colors, black and white which makes it so versatile. Since its short, I paired it with high waisted jeans and simple black accessories.

OOTD - Wedding Style

Monday, May 22, 2017

Living in Edmonton, Summer seems to feel like an eternity from now. However I know it will come up fast and I will still be struggling to find what to wear to the six weddings I get to attend this year. This will only be made more difficult by my New Year's Resolution to buy NO clothes all year. I wore this skirt more than few times and styled it differently; for this wedding I added few simple neutral pieces to create this outfit. The skirt, top and shoes are different colors but since they are neutral colors they work well together.
