Working on My Fitness Goals for 2020

Friday, January 31, 2020

One of my goals for 2020 was to work on relationship with fitness and health. I was clueless of where to even start and after some research I stumbled upon a program called Breathing Yourself Thin

Bigu Qigong is a Qigong exercise that harmonizes the mind and breath with a specific body position to achieve hunger control and to improve the function of internal organs. Bigu Qigong is easy to learn and very effective for the goal of achieving and maintaining an optimal weight without side effects.  This was a different method of attaining weight loss through breathing exercises. In the videos Dr. Gao explains the techniques clearly and even offers a guide to help and demonstrate the correct way to breathe. The research behind the method shows that people were successfully able to complete the two-week program lose weight and keep the weight off.

I used the two week online program, which might be the easiest way to learn Bigu Qigong. The time commitment is one hour a day, for two weeks ,by watching Dr. Gao’s  video lessons, any time of day that fits your schedule. Dr. Gao and qualified instructors will provide feedback and direction on daily base in the  two weeks program.

2020 Goals - Resolutions for a Great Year

Thursday, January 30, 2020

It's a new year and decade right, I’m sharing my 2020 resolutions! (you guys keep me accountable!)
New year, new me - yes we heard it a thousand times and the saying is over done but each new year gives us an opportunity to dream a little bigger, and to start working on things we want. I think there is a ton of pressure that surrounds making resolutions because what if we fail? I look at each new year as a new place to kick off some goals and don't think of them so much as resolutions.
This year they are fairly simple:
NO CLOTHES SHOPPING.
Yes, I am fully aware that me as a life and style blogger just said I m not gonna buy clothes BUT I have more clothes than needed and I think it will be a great challenge to wear what I have. No new clothes means better things for my wallet but also for anyone reading things blog. We will all get to learn how to make most use of what we have and how to style same pieces multiple ways.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF.
I can be the worst critique of myself bordering on mean, so in 2020 I wow to not call myself fat, ugly, or whatever other mean adjective I think off.

WORK ON BETTER RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD AND FITNESS.
My goal is to be able to walk up 4 flights of stairs without being out of breath and not eating my feelings. More on that here.

My goal for 2020 is to read 20 books.

MINIMIZE SINGLE PLASTIC USE.
It's better for everyone.

What are your goals this year?

OOTD - Winter flowers

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Flower print isn't only for Spring and Summer - these flower paper bag pants are my favorite. They are not only comfortable but work well for work and for more casual days. I paired them with the same tone sweater today for a more cold day feel. What do you think of flower print for winter?

Quick Ways to Update Your Space on a Budget

Tuesday, January 28, 2020

I have been working overtime to get my house in shape to be sold. Call me crazy but i've been convinced to move out to the country and honestly the prospect of not having neighbours was really appealing. Having said that my house needed some work to make it more appealing. Here are the things I did that were small but made a huge difference.

Paint- I know this one seems like a no brainer but a new coat of paint will do wonders, especially if you stick to bright neutrals. That way you are not imposing your style onto someone else they can make the space what they want. I mean look at that green, whyy, just why.

Hardware- The kitchen has oak cabinets, and had wooden handles that made it look so dated. We bought all new door handles and voila the kitchen looks more modern.

Accessories- New accessories can make any space look more modern and up to date, even if what you love is something retro it can still make your space look great. I got some simple pieces from Home Sense, a soap dispenser, glass container and a toothbrush holder. Although, I don't use it as a toothbrush holder but rather for my make up brushes.

Shower Curtain- I know this one might seem like a no brainer but, I never noticed the shower curtain in my bathroom. I just moved in with my husband and whatever he had was fine with me. Now that I am selling the house I looked around and thought omg is there a bus on that curtain that has to go. So out it went and in came this gorgeous grey and white textured curtain. It's so pretty I love it. Go look in your bathroom does the curtain bring you joy, if it doesn't replace it.

What are your tips and tricks for updating on a budget?

Winter, but make it fashion... or something like that. I wore this dress to my mom's birthday. I love the pearl details on the sleeves. The storm hit hard while we were at dinner but I had to take the opportunity for an impromptu photoshoot.

You can never go wrong with a little black dress, ever. I m trying to buy things that are staples. This dress caught my eye, I love the boho casual style that can easily be dressed for this weather.  This can be a casual day dress or you can dress it up with some heels, jewelry and accessories that stand out and it’s a super chic look for a night out. Best Book to Movie Adaptations

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

I love a good book, but I also love to see a good book come to life on screen. Lately so many books have been adapted to movies that I cannot wait to see. Here are my top five picks and trust me just picking five was very difficult, so if there is one that didn't make the cut that you think should have let me know.
image
Emma- A take on the Jane Austin classic, who doesn't love a good film adapted from an amazing author. I love historical films and even though this one has been done before I am so looking forward to this new take, it comes out February 21, 2020 so watch out for it.
image
To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You- I loved the first movies, it was cute and funny and I can not wait to see how the second book in the series unfolds on screen, the actors in the movie do the words on the page so much justice, get ready to make your partner watch this on Valentines Day or on February 12, 2020 when it comes out. You know if you're not into that whole Hallmark holiday.
image
The Rhythm Section-  Switching gears because I love a good action movie, this movie is about a woman who seeks revenege against those who orchestrated a plane crash that killed her family. I don't normally like Blake Lively's acting I mean she's pretty but that's about it, I watched the  trailer and I think this movie might actually be good, for one she isn't pretty in it so I figure it must be good right. I mean a haircut can change your acting skills right? Check it out when it comes out  January 31, 202o and let me know what you think.
image
The Secret Garden- This was one of my all time favourite books when I was young. THe first film that came out was good, but it didn't really do the book justice. I found the garden to be regular and bland the book was so much more imaginative and amazing. The trailer for this movie showed an amazing garden that would finally live up to my young dreams I am really looking forward to a movie that will make me nostalgic for my youth. The date I found for it's release is April 17, 2020
image
The Woman in the Window- An agoraphobic woman living alone in New York begins spying on her new neighbours, only to witness a disturbing act of violence. I watched the trailer for this and honestly the IMDB description pretty much summed it up so why mess with a description that is already good. I haven't heard of this book and since the movie doesn't come out until May I am adding this book to my reading list and will read it before I see the movie. It looks like a really good thriller and I can't wait to see the screen adaptation to see if it does the book justice because so far all the book reviews have been amazing and I would hate for it not to live up to the book hype...cough cough 50 Shades. It's slotted for release  May 15th, 2020.

What book to movie adaptations do you think should have made the list?

OOTD - Winter Date Night Outfit

Monday, January 20, 2020

Winter is a hard time for me, I wanna look cute but I wanna be warm, and with the cold weather we have been having, I don't know what to wear. Easy way to style some of my favorite summer pieces when its cold outside - layer a wrap dress over a fitted black turtleneck and pair it with black booties  for a cute and stylish but easy swinter outfit.

dress: Marshalls
boots: Call it Spring
turtleneck: J-Crew
tights: Nordstrom

OOTD - The Perfect Skirt For Cold Weather Days

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

I picked this skirt up for the fall & winter season and I am obsessed with the length and cut. I think it perfect to wear with trainers, OTK boots or just cute booties making it super versatile! It has a slit giving it more dimensions and it will easily transition it to warmer months too. Today I paired it with a chunky sweater (and simple tuck in front that took me 15 minutes to get just right) and boots.
